IN GOOD COMPANY...

A modern infrastructure, a pleasant environment, employment opportunities and multiple leisure and entertainment facilities are all attributed to the Bay’s successful rejuvenation as a cosmopolitan waterfront.

A growing commercial core in the heart of Cardiff Bay

Merchant Place occupies a prime location at the top of Lloyd George Avenue in close proximity to many prestigious commercial and residential developments. Home to the National Assembly for Wales, Bank of England, HBOS Card Services, Atradius and Ove Arup, many blue-chip companies have decided to re-locate their operations to Wales’ prosperous waterfront capital. Cardiff Bay is host to a flourishing media culture with Red Dragon Radio, and Sgrin Cymru Wales, among the companies aspiring to be part of Cardiff’s fashionable and successful location.

As Europe’s youngest capital – Cardiff celebrated its 50th anniversary and its centenary as a city in 2005 – Cardiff has experienced explosive growth over the past decade and investors have been proactive in seizing opportunities within the burgeoning Cardiff Bay waterfront. Since 1987, substantial investment has been devoted to the revival of Cardiff’s former docklands area to reverse the downward fortunes of the city’s port and associated industries. Regeneration of the bay has focused on promoting the social and economic benefits available beyond the city centre.

Wales’ position continues to evolve in the global market place and Cardiff is firmly established as the gateway to Wales.

Cardiff’s potential as a major player on an international level was recognised by the UK government who shortlisted the Welsh capital for Capital of Culture 2008, and branded the city a Centre of Excellence. Merchant Place will be at the epicentre of continuing regeneration projects and will form an integral part of Cardiff Bay’s economic and cultural powerhouse.

Located at the centre of Wales’ vibrant and dynamic waterfront city, Merchant Place is a flagship development set against the backdrop of Cardiff Bay’s thriving economy. Situated within the prestigious Mount Stuart Square conservation area, the site comprises three historic listed buildings dating from the late nineteenth century. The Old Post Office, the Cory’s Building and Custom House are representative of a period when trade in one of the world’s most industrious ports was booming.

Brand new 5 and 8 storey, high quality, modern office blocks are being built in the Courtyard and existing car park sites. Whilst the 3 existing historic structures are being refurbished to provide high quality office accommodation they will also maintain the splendour of the original architectural detailing. Today, an emerging new culture is tangible in the Cardiff Bay area, through an eclectic blend of iconic buildings, unique monuments and first class amenities. Sophisticated dining, entertainment, arts and culture contribute to the distinctiveness of the area, placing Merchant Place in the very heart of a thriving modern community.
